I got the calipers out , I press the brake lever and the piston only travels 1/4" ,
I don't see any leaks, I looked and confirmed the mc is full of fluid.
What is my next move? Empty out fluids pull out the piston, clean the inside?
The rubber seal around the piston looks pretty fresh not old and cracked.

Ok got the bleeder valve off finally, and drained all the brake fluid, no idea what dot was on there before. So now the manual say Pry the retaining ring as step one. But there is no retaining ring have a look

Think the retainer wire 13 is a small spring wire that puts a small load on the dust boot. Fits in that first small diameter on the boot. Caution..My picture is a 97 softail. You should not be learning how to do brakes on here or unsupervised by a qualified teaching mechanic that is present!

Hook it back up and use the master. How I do it before removing. Just part of getting new fluid thru. Put block of wood in front of it if you use air or the hydraulics.

The piston is seized up and does not travel freely, the master cylinder can't push it out, that's why I had to take it off

OK I have the piston outs, are surely everything looks great the piston has no scoring the seal is nice. I am guessing the reason it was not pushing out Was maybe because there was air in the lines? Maybe I should've bless line before I took it apart. Unless anyone can think of another reason why it was not pushing out?

Yes air compresses unlike brake fluid. Be sure the piston is smooth and no pitting. However, also make sure the groove in the caliper where the piston ring sets down in (not the dust seal ring) is smooth and no pitting. Both walls and the bottom of the groove. (use a small dental mirror to check back side)

I did not take out the piston ring seal. Because there was no leaks I just checked for marks, pits or scoring inside the calliper walls do you want me to take out the seal? I'm just worried I may damage Visio and I did not see a reason to take it out since there was no leaks . Do you think?

Also should I lubricate the piston walls with anything when sliding back in?
