My 2012 slim was satge 2 and compared to a S I still feel the S has a little more power everywhere
Bingo! You will often read hear about someone with a well broken in stage1 103 and compare it to their limited dealer test ride of these new STOCK 110 motors. I've owned both 103HO on my RG and now my Slim S. The SlimS pulls harrd!

SlimS also comes with TBW, cruise control and abs.

The ABS on the S model is by far the best set of brakes I've had on any Harley over the years. I imagine they work as well on any new ABS model, although the S has a floating disc where the regular Slim does not.

I haven't ridden a regular Slim, but I'm approaching 10k miles on my S.

Before the Slim, I had a '13 Dyna Street Bob with SE255 cams (same as stock in the S), plus a V&H Pro Pipe and S&S intake. It ran really well.
The S has more torque in the low to mid ranges.
The higher RPM area feels about the same as the Dyna.

The SE110 obviously has more displacement, but it has a higher lift can than the 103HO. Not a lot more, but torque comes on earlier and peaks at around 500 RPM higher than the 103HO. It gives the impression of much more power because of the power band. In reality, it's about 9ft-lb more (stock to stock)

The value in the S price is:
The SE110 with more cam lift.(about 9% more torque)
ABS
Cruise control
Hydraulic clutch
Floating front disc
Blacked out stuff
It has Throttle by Wire, but I think all the 16 ST have that. I'm not sure though.

I love mine. It's been a great bike for 11 months and 10k miles. I still get excited to ride it.

Deciding between the regular and S model comes down to these things in my opinion.
1. Do you like the S $3600 more than the standard Slim?
2. When modding your bike? Would the S "extras" be on your shopping list? Some people black out their bike. Some people add cruise control, some opt for ABS. Not a lot of people changing to hydraulic clutch. Someone already pointed out the $2k 117 kit.

If the extras have a value to you and you like the style enough to pay the difference, it's worth it.
If a bigger motor is all you really want from it, buy a standard Slim, add the 117 kit and save some money.

As far as the $2k 117 kit goes how about the 8 to 12 hour labor fee that is needed to install.

My 110 S out runs the 103 HO's in my collection with ease.

Also a built 103 will out run a 110 but a built 110 will out run the built 103 and a 120R will out run them all. Come on compare apples to apples.

Let me put this as simply as I can. My Softail Slim S gets attention everywhere I go. People of all ages, love the paint scheme. It stands out above anything else on the road. I love this bike, and can't think of another bike I could get that would be better at the moment. Seems like a no brainer to me.

Styling is more of an individual attention getter.
My run'o da mill Slim gets plenty attention.
It's with out a doubt the S is a better build. And the price is justifyable.
Which is really what this thread is about.
You can build a better bike from scratch than what the S sells for though. And that is also a fact

Well actually the thread is about if the S model is that much better. Looks come into this, just as much as any other attribute that the bike may have. A special edition, somewhat limited paint scheme from the factory, is also a huge plus. It actually might help the bike keep its value down the rode. The paint scheme was a huge reason why I bought the bike.

Sticks, the answer to that should be and I beleive is also obvious to the OP.
I think he asked mostly based on value.
Not every one here is made of money, tho some don't like admitting they're not so they avoid the issue.
Assuming the OP isn't aware of the difference between apples vs. oranges is demining to say the least if not disrespectful. My o2

Me thinks you assume too much. If your going to use big words, at least spell them properly.
