Hi everyone,

46/195 will get you in the ballpark with full stage 1 and cams (didn't see a mention of an intake, that's an important difference). If you still have the dinky stock intake, you could probably get away with 45/190 alright.

Thanks for the input I'll take a look and see what's in there now as it does have an air cleaner from Harley not the stock one. I actually just got the bike running good yesterday, the accelerator pump was leaking some fuel causing starvation

Not sure how this works or if I'm even supposed to to post here so please bear with me till I learn...I've got a 1986 Harley 1340, V&H Longshots w/baffels and k&n filter. The old Keihin, jetted 54/170, has failed and I'm replacing with a standard CV. What jets would work well with this combination?-John

Default jetting the jist of it

yeah thanks Scuba10jdl, been reading a lot of blogs and basically came up with that or 46/185 if I remove the baffels... I snagged an early 42mm "Screamin Eagle" off Ebay so now I'm torn on which to build and scoot with before winter sets in here on the east coast...

Find out from the dealer or a service manual what the stock jet sizes are. Go up one size on both the slow jet and the main jet. If the slow jet is a 45 go with a 48. If the main jet is a 185 go with a 190. Also, remove the slide and put a .025 thick washer under the needle. Remove the plug for the slow jet idle screw. Lightly screw it in until it bottoms out. Then back it out 2 turns. These mods will work well, about 95% of the time, on any stage 1 bike or stage 1 plus mild cams. And for god sake, don't drill out the slide or cut the slide spring.

Default jetting 101

thanks for the input Martin10...both carbs, which I'll do a complete rebuild, are Ebay snags and may have been modified but yes I do have an original service manual that I believe has the stock numbers for the CV and I'm picking up an old Clymer book today that should deal with the old Screamin Eagle...I've also found some great info that comes with S&S carbs and with V&H pipes.
