Hi, hoping somone can help me out. My 2001 Heritage Softail with Delphi EFI sputtersintermittently only when warm. It runs perfect when starting from cold until itwarms up. Also, I am getting really bad gas mileage. People riding behind mecan smell gas. I've checked EVERYTHING and it is all within spec. See below. Ihave changed the TPS, spark plugs, MAP sensor and intake manifold gaskets andstill the same problem. Also, when stopped at a light, my RPM starts toincrease for no reason.

I’ve read posts that suggest that it could bethe fuel pressure regulator sticking but, wouldn’t it stick when the bike iscold as well?


Checked:
crankcase position sensor
spark plug wires
coil
engine temperature sensor
cleaned vacuum lines

Replaced:Fuel filter and check valve
spark plugs
map sensor
throttle position sensor
intake manifold gasket

have you checked to see what, if any, codes its throwing..???

 

I don't have much knowledge about fi bikes, but if the same symptoms were in a car, I'd say MAF or O2 sensor. Could be intake leak and the ECM is compensating for the extra air, or could be a bad injector. Easy to check all those.
