I wear a full face Shoei on my 1250 Suzuki. 5/8 on the WG with shades, pull down visor and mask when it's cold - full face covered but not protected, except for wind and small stuff. Don't go far on the Harley. Horses for courses. I like to please me, nobody else. I ride all year except ice.

Default Gringo S

I have a Gringo S with flip up shield. I am very happy with it for the same reasons you state:

I also have and unknown brand of modular helmet for cooler weather.

I wear a Shoei RF-11. I make a living using my brain and decided a long time ago its worth protecting. I've had so many bikers chide me for wearing a full faced helmet and frankly, I'm not trying to uphold any particular image. I choose a helmet for visibility and safety. That's all.

Maybe it doesn't match and maybe it doesn't look tough. It works for me.

Sarah, according to the 2nd pic you're far less worried about your legs, arms and upper body....you don't need that for living

I tried on a modular and when I flipped the chin section down, I felt too closed in. So a full face would be just as bad.

Full face HD modular for me. My ride for the past 17 years has been a 1999 FXDX with a lot of motor mods. I regularly ride with sportbike riders so a full face has been my brainbucket of choice. Now that I have a 2015 FLSTF as well as my FXDX, I see no reason to change my helmet to "fit in" with more relaxed riders.

Modular Shoei here , pretty much the same protection but you can pull it open to get your ears in. Not ever had anyone say anything about it. You may be selling your wife short about her not knowing the difference. What do you care what anyone else but her and your children think anyway. Merry Christmas. Mike
