Major SNAFU How to move Oil line if front of Starter?
I've tried to install a button starter on my 2003 softail.
I removed the rear exhaust but thought I could get around the oil line.
Big Mistake. I didn't realize until it was too late that the socket wrench extension was at an angle.
I twisted the head off one bolt and cross threaded another.
What would be the best approach to get the oil line out of the way? The Shop Manual doesn't seem to address this.
(a guy told me to cut it in two and clamp off each end like the fuel lines when taking off a fuel tank.)
I guess I need to drill out the bolts so I'm wanting a clearer path like I should've had in the beginning...
Thanks.

There's just a couple of pinch clamps holding that small section of hose on there.
Drain your oil, remove the pinch clamps, remove the piece of hose. Put a rag under it, some oil will come out. Shouldn't be much if the tank is drained... see if that gives you enough room.... if so, when done with starter button work, you can replace the hose (or new hose) and secure with pinch clamps or worm drive clamps
Now....if the oil tank hose barb is in the way, gonna take some extra work & time to get the room you need.....
Good luck...

I'm thinking to do a good job you're better off pulling the primary, especially to get to the broken bolt and also to do a good job of helicoiling the stripped threads. Might think of putting studs on the inner primary for future fixin if the need arises. For me it is easier to hold the gasket in place and hold the starter where it needs to be while you get the nuts started.
