No the bike will not be damaged...it just will not be running the best that it could and the gas mileage won't be as good...go with PV5...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the bike may run a little hotter after you add an after market exhaust that flows more. They come lean from the factory and with addition air flow, you need to add more fuel. Now do you HAVE to? Probably not, but I'd suggest getting the V&H fp3. It's $309 at directcycleparts.com

My dealer told me no need for the tuner when I put my Street Cannons on my 16' Fat Boy S. They said yes if I want to go with a full exhaust and dyno tune. But slip-on's no tuner required. So... before delivery I had them put the Street Cannons and I'm a happy camper. A deeper exhaust note then stock mufflers but not LOUD like other slip-on's.

If you're not going stage II, you can probably have HD just do a download for those pipes and that will re-map your ECM.

Seeing as how you are not adding more air, just a slightly less restrictive exhaust, the ECM can easily adjust to the change. If you want cheap, just add XIED's from Nightrider, they will add a little more fuel to richen the AFR, eliminating a lean burn

I have a '16 Deluxe but the muffler internals are similar. The stock exhaust has 36 small outlet holes (12 rows of 3 ea.) downstream of the Cat. The Street Cannons have 48 (12/4 ea.) If you run the hole area (about a #18 drill, 0.166"; same for both mufflers) times holes the stock has about a 3/4" equivalent opening...the Cannons 1". Not exact but close as there's some restriction involved with one hole versus several with equivalent opening.

What's slightly louder in my experience are the Street Performance cans (80679-12) from 2015 that will fit the Heritage. Better yet are the 2007 pre-Cat slip-ons. I have a set and am keeping them for a rainy day. Khromewerks (and S&S) both sell nice slip-ons but may void the warranty and require a tuner more than the HD offerings. They are even louder yet as I had them on an earlier Heritage.
