Default Street Cannons do I really need a tuner

I plan on putting the SE Street Cannons on my new 2017 Heritage Softail. Dealers say I don't need a tuner but parts book says " 17 and later models requires ECM calibration with pro street tuner sold separately."

What do you guys say. (not very often the dealer tells me I don't need a part

Do you *need* a tuner? Maybe not. Will a tuner make your bike fun a hell of a lot better and use the extra capability those pipes will bring? Probably. Does it make sense to add capability to the *** end (pipes) without matching that capability on the front end (air cleaner)? Well......

Just remember, a Harley Pro Tuner is $450.00 and is forever married to that one motorcycle.

I think pretty much any tuner will be, otherwise one guy/shop could buy a tuner and use it on every bike they worked on without needing to ever buy another one. Tuner companies would go out of business or quit making them.

Fuelpak fp3 can be had for $400 or a little less if you look around.

I should have clarified. I am not looking for more power the bike has enough power for me I just want a little more sound. The parts book says 2017 need the tuner but only the 2017 model so I am trying to find out why.

Ah... I'd hazard a guess the difference might be because of the M8, but I'll leave that to someone more knowledgeable.

I added the FP3 to my '14 SGS with Street Cannons and K&N AF, made a big difference. Also eliminated the decel popping completely. I believe an aftermarket tuner is a good investment due to the Feds emissions standards leaning out the bikes so much. I paid around $350 for it.

Fuel moto has the Power vision on sale for 399 right now. I would jump on that if I didn't have one already. Or spend the money and get a thundermax so it wont be married to the bike

If I don't add the tuner and go with just the pipes does it damage the bike in any way.
