Will the derby cover polish up?

Yes it will, a buffing wheel with different grades of compound will do the job nicely.
It's a pity we're opposite sides of the water because I have a redundant cover that had the wrinkle finish removed with paint stripper that you'd be more than welcome to.

That's what I was thinking of doing, removing the wrinkle and polishing up... As I said before I don't really want a chrome or really shinny one just a nice looking clean metal. You don't have a picture of one on your bike do your? Or anyone have a pic of a silver Derby Cover on a black engine?

No, I didn't mean for you to go through all of that! I was just wondering if you had any pictures of your bike with the silver cover on it?

The cover is unmolested bare metal and will be fitted to a black wrinkle primary cover which is exactly the photo you're after.
I doubt if anyone else will have a bare metal(unpolished cover) available so I'm more than happy to help.

I appreciate your help. I really like the ribbed one but reminds me of the side covers I put on my Triumph in 1971, haha. The plain silver looks well, just too plain... I think I'll go with these. Their everything I wanted, black GLOSS and bare metal. I'm not really in love with the skulls but I can live with that. If you blow up the pic you can see their really well made and a good price too!
