chrome oil line leak 2017 heritage
My new bike seems to be leaking a little oil when two chrome oil line go into the engine from the oil tank. The large chrome nuts I think are just a cover. They have some little black plastic thing that going into the back of the chrome nut. I suspect you remove these to get at the real nut. Anybody know how to remove these?

I noticed at my local dealer that every Heritage on the floor had some oil under the 2 nuts on the engine. I asked the salesman about it and he didn't have an answer. I figured it must be some overflow during prep, but I don't know.
I wish I would have looked at other Softail models to see if they had the same signs of oil.

What I was told ....
After taking delivery of my Breakout I rode the long way home and was showing my new ride to some friends they pointed out the oil lines were leaking , I immediately left and rode back to the dealership , after showing them my dripping oil lines they told me its normal (or at least common) and to give it a few hundred miles , several heat/cool cycles and it should go away , which it did and haven't had an issue since ....

Just had a similar issue with 2016 FLSS: https://www.hdforums.com/forum/engin...il-slim-s.html
I wouldn't sweat it as it appears to be a result of the manufacturing process and should be gone before 1000 miles.

Thanks. Yes they appear to hold the decorative chrome in place. You obviously have the service manual so perhaps you could tell me how to remove them. At this point I have the owners manual only.

There is a special tool used to remove oil line retainers. The Scavenger oil change kits for softails come with one. It is like a slip collar that fits around the hard line and under the black retainer. You push the tool into the retainer and it releases it. Kind of hard to explain. If you watch the Scavenger YouTube video for softails you will see what I am talking about...
