Horsepower rating

RE: Horsepower rating
I believe the 88 TC was about 68 HP. That might be at the rear wheel instead of the crank. One of the HD engineers in an interview said the 96 produces the same power as the 88, but lots more torque. The 96B seems to come in 2 or 3 versions because different Softails have 3 different torque ratings. Might be that the 2 lower ratings are the same engine and the pipes make the difference, but peak torque happens at 2 different RPM's, so I think there is probably 2 different cam sets.

RE: Horsepower rating
According to the dyno graph in the Screaming Eagle Parts Catalog, the stock 88 has a peak Torque of around 70, peak HP of around 59; the stock 96 has a peak Torque of around 82, peak HP of around 68. It doesn't say if they ran the test on an A or B motor, just "Corrected torque and horsepower measured at rear wheel on a Dynojet chassis Dynamometer. Your results may vary."
