Default back fire on start up

I have a 2000 nighttrain she started to backfire when i start it. Only does it when it's cold. Any ideas????

How old is the battery?Also check to see if your battery cables are tight.

Backfire? thru the intake, or after fire out the exhaust. Different problems. True backfire (thru intake) could be sticky intake valve or one that needs adjust ment. After fire usually indicates over rich mixture I.E. on carbs it's choked and on f.i. it's out of calibration.

Thanks everyone for your comments I am out of the country now so i'll have to post back when i get back. It is backfireing through the pipes not the carb.[ Tnjet] the apes are the only way to go, come on get with the program. Ha Ha

My 2000 does the: "Er, Er.....BANG.....potato-potato- rumble-potato-rumble-potato-potato"

(Is this the same thing yours does?)
Keeps the neighbors on their toes.

I tell myself it is normal and that it could be worse! LOL
