Has anyone ever had any issues with their paint cracking or flaking on your tank tabs that connect to the frame?Especially around the bolt. I am having this issue with my 06 heritage and have already had the dealership touch it up once. You can tell that the paint is thick in this area. They stated that this is a common problem. I just want to see how common............

 

Sounds like somebody over tightened the bolt on the front attachment and bent the tabs, which in turn will crack the paint. On my custom, the nut was only finger tight when I got it . I noticed the bolt is too short for the locking nut to work without bending the tabs. I just snugged it up and used loctite to keep it there.

I never messed with it. I did have a new gas gauge put in by the dealer. Maybe thats when it happened.
