2007 Fatboy punched out the plugs with this big drill bit I found at the Pawn shop for a couple of bucks. This thing was about 5/8 in dia. and three feet long , looked kinda like a big masonry bit. Anyway I like the sound much deeper tone and cant beat the price. from what I understand as long as you dont increasetheairflow in ie. high flow air cleaner. No other mods neccesary.
Hope this helps,
G.

Citoriplus, you can never be too detailed. I've always like your posts!

For the rest of you I forgot to add one thing. After I punched out the baffle plate I carefully checked the plugs every 1 to 200 miles for the last 800 or so miles and I can detect NO CHANGE on them. So Just doing the baffle hasn't changed anything with the AF ratio on my bike.
But if your worried about it why not go all the way up to a stage 1 AC and download.
Soon as I can get up the extra cash I'll have the bike remapped to stage 1 and order a newS&S AC for it.
I just like the old school look of the S&S AC better than anything else, but that's a personal thing.
Feel free to express yourselves as you will.

RE: Mods to stock exhaust baffles, what were your results?
Thought I would provide feedback on what I decided to do.
1. Year and model of bike: 2007 FXSTC.
2. Type of muffler mod.: 3/4" Hole (hole saw) toboth baffle plugs (center of mufflers).
3. Effect on sound:Noticeably louder and "throatier" than stock, pleasant sound.
4. Effect on performance: No noticeable effect.
5. Any other mods that may have been made to engine: None.
6. How long have you used this mod, such as approx. miles: 150 miles.
7. Additional comments you may have on this experience: Very pleased with the outcome,
just what I wanted. (To maintain some back-pressure andavoid getting too loud, I
chosenot toremove the plugs completely.)

Does the stock 07 muffler comes with the catalyser? Can it be removed?

have you kept them like that or have you replaced the exhaust?

I'm strange, I actually like the look of the stock pipes and if I can get them to sound like a Harley should without damaging things. So much the better.
Its a hell of a lot cheaper than getting a set of Khrome Werks taper style slip-ons just to get a different sound.
Later on "IF" I decide to go and do some major mods to the engine I may have to reevaluate things.
But for now it works, it sounds good, and its very inexpensive. That's a very tough combination to beat.

I wonder if the EPA ****'s and local cops enforcing the noise rules will catch on. I like the idea of simply modifying the stock pipes b/c the EPA stamp will still be there. Something to consider after they pry the Thunderheader from my cold dead fingers, or I simply go broke from paying fines.

I'm sure their not completely stupid, so if they start looking they will see the blocking plate has been tampered with.
I wish I had saved the link, but somebody around here has it. Thelink was to another HD web site that had a big long and very detailed writeup of how to get the baffel tube out, redrill the holes larger, and add a couple of rows. Then reweld thetube back in. Done that way it would be very hard for anyone to tell that you had "fooled" with it. He did it to a Sporty, but the basic principal holds true for a lot of other bikes mufflers. He even included a short video of what it sounded like after it was finished. Sounded very similar to what happens after punching out theplate.

For my 06 SB I bought some Drilled Baffle stock muffler in hopes of getting something that sounded better. It did make a slight difference at an idle but 25 MPH it is back to the factory sound and more Honda ish.
Bought some Take Off Rush cans on ebay, dumped a bunch of money into the motor, added BCT Baffles and removed the Rush Baffles completely...Now it sounds like I wanted it too.
