Default Saggy bags on Heritage

I just ordered a set of saggy bag inserts for our 05 Heritage Classic and was told to spray the inside of the bags about five times over a 1 week period with Lexol. I have been doing it for three days now and they are getting very supple. Hope this help someone. I guess after they take a set from the weather its hard to install the inserts. Rich.

Hey willie37. Did you order the saggy bag inserts from www.gotsaggybags.com ? That's where I got mine from and no one ever mentioned about spraying Lexol on the inside of the bags. Iinstalled them about a year ago and they have looked brand new ever since. I use a leather conditioner to keep the bags clean and it works for me.

Yeah I got the inserts from gotsaggybags and nothing was said about Lexol.. Wish they would have though because was a pain in the azz getting the inserts in. Look good now but not nowhere as easy as they state. At least not on my bags.

I've seennew Heritage models in dealer showrooms with bags that are beginning to sag. Why doesn't Harley fix this problem?

Yeah i got the system from got saggybags but Rich at Rich's custom seats in Seattle Washington told me about the Lexol. Day three now and they are getting softer. I will spray them a couple more times this weekend and by the time my saggybags inserts come next week they will be soft and ready i think. Its the little things that help. Hey Brian, thats one good looking Heritage you have. Richard

Thanks, Richard. I'm pretty much done with the mods, except for adding whitewall tires when it comes time to replace mine and eventually getting a new paint job.

Used "gotsaggybags"after my first year - 3 years ago - still looks great even after 28,000 miles.

They were a PITA to put in, but very much any average Joe can install them.

I never did anything to the interior....

The saggybag kit for a 05 Heritage is 119.00. They can't be to hard to install. You have to get the end panels tucked in under the leather seam and the plastic back. The top panel is glued in and then there is a rib you slide over the opening lip. If you look at their web page it shows the procedure. I think the hard part comes in if your bags are stiff from time and weather. In that case you need to soften up the leather with Lexol. Also doing them in a warm room or warm weather would make them more plyable. I guess if you had to soak them in warm water and then install the kit and let them air dry that would also be ok. Harley should install them from the factory but then they would have to up the price again. Richard
