Default FXST Saddlebags

I purchased a 2001 Softail Standard that has "LeatherLike" saddlebags. Becauseof the size of the bags the turn signals are mounted on the license plate bracket. I would like to mount the turn signals on the fender mount like the newer models but can't because of the existing saddlebags. Any suggestions for new saddlebags that would allow me to place rear turn signals on fender?
Thanks for your help.

I went with the Sequoia Classicbags from Leatherneck Jim. Used the Easy Brackets. Great quality of bags and hardware, great service from Jim. Also much cheaper than the Harley bags. I did not have to move the turn signals from the fenders. The bags mount on the front two bolts on the fender strut. Mine are 12"x14"x7". In fact, after my dad saw how nice my bags were, he ordered a set from Jim for his Wide Glide.

I have the turn signals in the bags. but since I run the bike without bags somtimes I have the Heavycycles light with signals in the rear light. A lot more visible than the stock setup.

Excellent choice in bags and screen name. Own a set of Jim's bags and some tile.

Takem' off!!! Big *** bags on a FXST is as silly as a windshield. If you need the use of a set of bags, get a small set of throw-over bags. If you go on a trip, add a sissybar and a roadbag.

Are those directional lights down near the pegs. They look really good. I saw a bike awhile ago that had aux lights down there. Any problems scraping them on leans? How difficult was it to install?

You could also use the Kuryakyn Panacea tail light as it has turn signals built into it. Thats what I did for my Fatboy so I could add a detachable sissy bar for my wife.

Thankz tincanson, those are no more than the factory run/turn lamps. There's already holes for mounting, you'll need to space them out about 1/2" so they will aim straght out in front. Had the bike torn-down for other upgrades when I done this so I just spliced the wire and followed the frame to the rear, up behind the oil tank, into the wireing trough, and up the backbone. I've not had them to scrape yet, but it'll happen soon enough. I just hope it'll pass inspection.
