Default light problem with aftermarket headlight and turn signals

Ok, I have a 99 softail standard. Momma bought me a new headlight and front turn signals for xmas. With a little modifying of the brackets I was able to install them on my bike. I wired everything up, turning on the ignition and everything worked great (high beam, low beam, left turn signal, right turn signal), turn signal lights stayed on and flashed when you press the turn signal button. I thought I got lucky with the wiring the first time. I went ahead and shortened the wires made it look real nice and clean, like a shop would do. I was pretty happy and decided to go for a little ride. I started the bike and noticed the headlight, brake light, and front marker lights were not working. WhenI pulled the brake lever the brake light came on, when I pushed the turn signal light button the turn signal lights came on. I also started to hear a snapping or popping noise, my speedo light was also dimming when Ii heard the pop. The pop or snap is coming from a relay I found under the seat. I pulled the relay and now dont have the pop/snap noise or the dimming, but the new lights and brake light still don't work. Any ideas would be a great help.

I did something similar with my turn signals, cost me over $200 to find out that I had damaged a ground wire under that tank. HD dealer had to do an entire check of the electrical system to trace it down.

Sounds like you have a pinched wire someware in the wiring you did, Shorted to the frame or to a light housing
