Default Harley shift linkage

Hello,

I'm looking at ordering the HD Polished Stainless Steel shift linkage (33814-00A). Link to part

I can't tell by the description. Does anyone know if this has the heim joints?

THANKS!

I have that shift rod on my bike and the ends in fact are Heim Joints.
Looks and works a lot better than the original one.

Here's a pic of the old one with the polished stainless steel one installed.

I been looking at that one myself. Was it worth the cash? They seem pretty expensive for what they are. I was also looking at the cover, but I dont want to look like a cheapskate.

Its a lot smoother operating than the stock piece. Even if you get the cheap cover your still stuck with the rinky dink ball and socket ends the factory puts on.
One of the main reasons I replaced mine was that the ends were starting to get really gummed up from road dirt after only about 3000 miles. I thought it was just the normal thing until I pulled it off at the tranny end and the rod stayed in whatever position I moved it to because the front "joint" was so stiff.
If your even half thinking about it, DO IT. Sooner or later the one you have now is very probably going to start making it harder to shift. I don't think it will ever stop it, but it may make things more annoying.
BesidesSS ones are easy to care for, work well, don't rust, and make thestocker look like crap.

I agree, I changed mine out a few weeks ago and the shifting is much more positive. I can actually find neutral now haha. I thought the price was a little steep at first, but after installing it, i think it was a good mod. I got the skull one by the way, but i think all the replacement linkages use the heim joint for the same effect.

Mine's nothing fancy, just a polished stainless steel rod with decent ends, so its the cheapest "good" one they sell.
I was tempted to get the "Softail" one. But I think any of the other ones arenearly twice the price.
I just couldn't justify spending that muchextra money for a chrome piece that could later peal and maybe rust over one that works just as well. But willnever peal or rust.
