Drag Bars for FXSTI?
I have a 2006 Softail Standard and want to put something on that resembles the Street Slammer bar that Harley offers. I like the look of this bar and wondered if I could change bars without changing thecables and wiresto reduce cost? I like the night train look but think the bars are a little to forward for me, want a little more pullback I think plus I want a fatter bar than stock.

The night train bars on a Standard are a good set-up....I've got them on mine (as you can see below). I've had no problem with them, and I'm only 5'8". But, if you do go to this set-up, I suggest a cable change. You CAN use the factory cables, but they look pretty bad, because they're way too long.

If you're gonna install custom bars like the carlini's, do yourself a big favor, install all the right cables. Nothing looks worse than a cobbled up mess when someone does a handlebar install halfassed. You'll be glad you spent the extra bucks after it's all done.

Here are Carlini 1.5" bars, 8" rise and I think 6" pullback. Using the stock wiring and the same cables HD states to use with their streetslamers. I put the diamondback cables on, but I still need the break line. The stock cables will work if money is limited, just a bit long.
Now, a word from the wise, IF you think that you'll upgrade your triple trees in the near future, get your cables in stock length. After I had bought my cables and had installed them, I run across a killer deal on some 2" thick trees, and guess what??? The replacement cables come up too short, by as much as the stock cables were long with stock trees.Keep in mind that thiswill not hold true if using with a different rise and pullback.
