Leave the past where it belongs? Or does it belong in the present. Cross bones I say welcome to the softail family.

Define "True Vinatage Bikes" and show a pic of your ride and I'll leave another comment.

I can see what you're saying... but, for me, I've done everything to make my bike look as "old school" or vintage as I can afford. The only reason I don't have an old Pan is that I ride a lot of long distance and there is no way a bike that old is going to make it from Salt Lake City to Fairbanks, Alaska and back... even if it did, I would have to have my spine replaced [:'(]
I actually agree with you in a lot of ways... but I love my old school Bobber inspired 95 Heritage.
One day I will have the real thing... when I can afford to have both.

I completely disagree. I think the newer retro styled bikes pay tribute to the old classics and keep them relevent. No one who has any sense thinks they are the same, but who is gonna drive all over in a museum piece? If you don't celebrate the past and keep it updated then the past stays only in the past, and is forgotten.

A classic design defies time. Look at car makers coming back with retro Camaro,Challenger,Cuda..etc. Movie remakes,clothing...it goes on and on. Remaking a classic design with modern technology is a great idea and the new Cross Bones has really caught my attention, can't wait to see one in person.
How many times have people told you ...you should do this and do that to your bike. It's no big deal we all don't like the same thing the same way....that's what keeps things interesting. It's like everything in life..."to each his/her own"

I dont own a vintage bike. I'll leave that for the museums. I think the cross bones maintains the look better than any stock bike iv'e seen. It shouts im the King of bobbers. For those of you that customized your bikes to look like this , im shure it was more fun and satisfying. This is old school out of crate.

Harley makes it's dough with classics/retro. Harley's aren't the most innovated bikes out there. People like classic styling. The cross bones isn't like any true vintage bike I have saw with a 200mm tire. I'd take it though : )

Cross Bones, sorry not for me, but to each their own. I had a '97 Heritage Springer white with red. ONE BEAUTIFUL BIKE!!I got more compliments on that bike than any other. Even had people (non Harley) ask me how old it was. It made me want to look for an older one. Looked a lot like the '45 my uncle road that I have pics of him on. I remember my 70 year old aunt telling me 'you finally got a good one'. Vintage can be right, if it's the right one. Just my .02
