Default Rear Fender swap

Hey all,

I am in need of some advice.
I am looking at buying a 2008 Night Train and don't really care for the rear fender.
The stock rear tire is a 200 which is wide enough for me right now.
I am just looking to get rid of the bobtail and put a fender that is more like the heartland.
I would like to try and find a bolt on but if minor modication is necessary I can handle it.
Also I would like to have a solo seat setup that would include a detachable rear seat for when the old lady wants to take a ride.
I look forward to your ideas.

BTW: I just got back from my local dealer and they have a Rocker in and it is gorgous. Only problem is the rear seat is so damn small that I would either have to find a new old lady or she would never get to ride.

welcome to the forum crow...
the heartland kit ez200 kit has an optional detachable passenger seat...look around the nighttrain forum TRob has posted some pics of this.
on the heartland website is not specified if the kit fits a '08, shoot them a email (they have answered mine promptly)...

once mine reaches 40 i'll change her for two 20's...and take turns
if you really like the Rocker, maybe the guys here can help brainstorm some custom seat.

Cut the stock fender to the shape that you like.

The bobtailfender grows on you.......looks much better with a solo seat and with the rear lowered.

A stock Deuce fender will not fit. The widest they ever got coming out of the showroom was with a 160 rear tire. They make a wide tire kit for them that gives you 180 but that's still going in the stock fender. Bottom line is you won't get a 200 inside a stock Deuce fender.

You must really dislike the bobtail a lot to think of cutting it up on a brand new bike. I'd look around for some take-offs or Ebay fenders that you could adapt to your needs and hold on to your stock fender for that just in case day.

Good luck in your hunt.

I'm putting a Rick Doss smoothed rear fender that eliminates the tail light and license plate, and is also chopped a bit. Just go their website and look around, its a direct bolt on. they have one with a taillight built in also but it was alot more money and I like the sidemount options better.

I believe that's incorrect. I'm pretty sure a 200 rear tire WILL fit under a stock Deuce rear fender. The Deuce needed some mods such as a narrower belt and some other stuff I think, though. I think the problem would be where the seat mounts, because the Deuce used a different seat than the other Softails due to the different tank. There might be some other difference, also, but I'm not sure. I'm pretty sure a 200 rear tire will fit under the stock Deuce fender, though. Whether or not the fender can be used on a new Night Train, I don't know.
