Default Learn something new everyday........

I was browsing ebay couple days ago and found some Carlini clean sweeps in the rise and size I've been wanting. The bars I have now are 1.25's with a 10" rise; too slender for the large trees and 53mm legs of the inverted front end, and the 10" rise didn't allow my long arms to stretch out like I want. Found the Carlini 1.5's in a 7" rise, for a really good price, so I BIN'd them.Seller said they had a few fine scratches, hardly noticeable, and the chrome was in excellent shape. After receiving them today I was pretty disappointed, they were covered in mars and fine scratches with moderate oxidation. I tried the Eagle 1 metal polish (the stuff in the can that looks like wadding) and it didn't do much.........on a whim, i fired up my compressor and got a high speed random orbit palm buffer and some finishing compound and went to work. I was pretty surprised to see that the marring and oxidation are gone, and 90% of the fine scratches are gone too. They really are at 95% of new now, and are gonna look great on the bike ( and ergonmically will be perfect......gave 'em a trial fit!)
I won't swear that buffing all chrome will achieve the same results I got, but it worked for me.

It's not a random speed, but a random orbit. Speed is pretty much consant, depending on psi delivered to the tool. It's a pneumatic one I've had for a while, but I don't remember the brand.Works great though!

Yea, 1.5's are nice. I've been pleased with mine.
