Default Exhaust Pop

I put V&H staggered short shots - Ness Big Sucker - PC III on my 04 FX Springer. Let off the gas and you would think i'm in a gun fight. Had the bike tuned twice and both times i'm told it's the short pipes causing the popping and nothing to do to stop it. Any thoughts??

The bike is not tuned correctly. The PClll should be able to take the pop out of it.

Find a mechanic that knows Power Commanders , if you need to call Power Commander or go to the site and look for authorized tuning centers. You bike needs to get on a dyno and be properly set up.

What helped me was adding the quiet baffles. I have the Big Shots Staggered and a FuelPak (which I realize is very different from Short Shots onyour bike), but my symptoms were the same.

Adding baffles, revising myFuelPak settings (as advised by V&H), I have basically lost all decel popping. The baffles didn't knock-out the Harley rumble we all love, but it did give the engine some back pressure to work with.

Something to consider if you can't find someone who can correctly "tune" you bike.

Let us know how you make out.

That's not right, lots of people run those pipeswithout the loud popping on decel. Have you checked the pipes at the manifold to make sure there's no leaks? Pipes aren't cracked or anything right?

My bike popped after a dyno run with RUSH slips on's, SE High flow AC kit & Stage 1 DL.
The popping was resolved by adding a little fuel to the 0% column on both cylinders.
I added the value of 15 from RPM 1500-4000, again, in the 0% columns ONLY!
Try that, then ride the machine. If no popping, reduce the value by one ortwo until the popping returns, trial & error. Then when it returns,,go back up with your value one or two.
When I had my VH BSS pipes put on , I had the bike re-dynoed. Still NO popping.

Hope this helps,

Ride safe

I had the bike on a dyno twice by a Harley Dealer and a private bike shop. But will try again this week with a shop in Houston that builds race bikes and has a very good reputation.
