V&H Short Shots Staggered Question
Question about the V&H Short Shots Staggered. I ride two up, wife enjoys the bike, so looking at all the pics, the rear peg seems to sit right over end of exhaust. Does this make it uncomfortable for the wifey? (heat), if we were sitting in traffic? Sorry if this is a "dumb" question, but figured get some good answers here. Thanks

RE: V&H Short Shots Staggered Question
Not a dumb question. Obviously the passenger pegs are close, but there is a certain amount of logic that says that the end of the exhaust pipes arethe coolest point in the exhaust path.
Heat is being absorbed and dissipated from the moment the plug fires. That would be the hottest point. Then you have air surrounding the pipes, heat shields, and the pipes themselves spreading that heat away from the motor. Therefor the coolest temp would be at the exit-end of the pipes.
The "puffs" of exhaust, at idle, are still being sent backwards as it leaves the exhaust tips. I don't think hot exhaust will be more annoying coming from the Short Shots as compared to the Big Shots, or Long Shots.
My non-scientific theory would claim that there may be more radiated heat from the Long Shots being felt on the passenger pegs than what would be felt from the Short Shots. The Long Shot pipes would be warmer at proximity to the passenger pegs that the Shot Shots.
Don't flame me.....I just thinking and trying to reason things out.
Likewise, the exhaust temp of the Long Shots (at pipe tips) probably is a little cooler since the exhaust traveled through a longer heat exchanger.
In other words, I don't think you'll have a noticeable problem. Even stuck in traffic, standing still.

Heat will not be a problem but noise will. I have them on a FX Springer with what the dealer said was the loud baffels. They are loud-I put cotton in my right ear to keep from getting a headache. Not so loud at a steady speed but seriously loud when you get on the gas.

Thanks for the replies. I will have to see how loud they are. I was considering the Big Citybaffles, anyone use them with the VH SSS?
