Not happy with new mirrors
Anyone buy new mirrors and end up not liking them? Irecently replaced my stock FatBoy mirrors with some I bought from Dennis Kirk. Although I like the way they look (fat stems and all), I don't like the reflection they give on the rider side. The Stock softail mirrors gave you more viewing area because they both were "bubbled" a bit. Although my new mirrors are the same size, I see about 2/3's less in them because they are straight mirrors (not magnified). It's kind of freaky to me to all of a sudden loose 2/3's of seeing who's behind you to the left or right. Am I being too paraniod about this?

RE: Not happy with new mirrors
I love the look of my mirrors, but I've thought about replacing them. I'm not happy with the viewing area in them either. Also, if they get bumped and knocked out of place, I can't just re-adjust them. They actually spin and fit in a groove that holds them snug. If they get knocked out of that groove, I have to take the mirrors off and mess with them to get them back to how I want. It's a pain in the ***. I'm thinkin' that after a few more times of doing that, I'm just gonna get me another set of cheap harley mirrors. I love the look of mine because they are so small, but they're just not very practical.

RE: Not happy with new mirrors
Personally, I'd be scared-stiff if I didn't have a good set of mirrors to rely on.
I'm sure there are a hundred forum members that hate mirrors, wish they didn't HAVE TO have them, don't use them, or think totally old school and simply look over their shoulder when they need to.
But; I've got a nice country road stretch near me that is two lanes and folks like FLYING down it. Numerous times I have been surprised by cages flying up to me and/or flying around me that I never even saw approaching. I stare into my mirrors a lot more now, and when I'm on that country road, I pay extra attention to cages approaching at twice my speed (at least).
It is not a good thing to be surprised. Mirrors are one of those "functional" things for me. They have to "work better", over "looking better".
Be careful out there.
