05 Deluxe seat on 08 Deluxe?

05 Deluxe seat on 08 Deluxe?
My fiance has an 08 Deluxe that she is having some issues with.
The stock seat puts her a little too far back, and the nose of the seat is a little too wide
for her taste. She is 5'1", 120lbs.
I was looking at taking a stock seat, and re-sculpting the foam to fit her better.
I am kinda looking for an inexpensive way to do this, and fit it to more percisely.
I know there are reach seats, but I really don't want to spend the $ on that option. I also like the
idea of doing it myself. I enjoy challenges. If this doesn't work, I will get her a reach seat.
I have a line on an 05 Deluxe used seat for cheap. Will the 05 seat fit her 08?
I am looking at another seat rather than screw up her new seat.
I'm pretty good at fabricating things, but, since I have not done this before, I want to
give it a try on an inexpensive alternative before I commit to her seat.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

See if Mean City Cycles can modify it for you. Look at his web site...............

Thanks dlrshrt.
That's much cheaper than a HD reach seat. I may go with that option.
She won't be happy with a 3-5 week wait. Their turn around right now is 3 weeks
from arrival. I figure possible 4 or 5 days for shipping each way.
If the 05 seat will fit an 08 I can just send out her seat, and she can ride with the 05 seat
until she receives the new seat back.
I'm still wondering if my original plan may work. Anyone have any ideas?

RE: 05 Deluxe seat on 08 Deluxe?
I have heard the reach seats are extremely uncomfortable, as are the stock deluxe seats, which I can personally vouch for. I had my stock seat modded, not for putting me too far back, but for comfort, as mentioned. It cost me a $170 for the mod and I still hate the seat. I would recommend, if you're going to spend money on a seat, go get a decent mustang or corbin. I regret not doing that in the first place. If you want to make her fit better, consider a lowering kit. Lowering kits are quite inexpensive, btw.

You may already know this but there are basically no after market solo seats availabe for the 08 Deluxe right now. Please correct me if I am wrong cuz I am looking for one. The frame doesnt have the mounting hole as in other years. Mustang said they may have a solo seat available in March. Ultimate seats have solo seats thatinstall the same way the stock seat does. I'm not crazy about the style though.

There have been many posts on modifying the seats. If you are handly as you say I would go for it. Electric knife and trim down the padding. Have your wife try it and trim so more. Once if feels right you can reuse the original covering..take your time and stretch it back over the seat. LePera makes a solo seat that moves one forward more. Give them a call about the 08 fitment.

OK first I dont know that there is an inexpensive way to do this. There are many upholstery places that can resurface your seat, in fact I believe that C & C can do it. If you really want to do it right look at the Corbin close solo for the Deluxe. It moves you 2" closer to the handlebars and 1" lower, it costs about 330$. Great seat.
