Default What should I do????

Ok here is my situation: I have a 95 FLSTC and it has stock bars on it. I am 5'11 215 lbs fairly long reach and fairly long legs. I was on a small roadtrip with my dad we went roughly 300 miles and let me tell ya by the time I got home I had the biggest neck pain I have ever had. It was between the tops of my shoulder blades and it sucked.

So my question is who has experienced this and what handlebars did u get to fix the problem? I have looked and looked for handlebars, but without me riding the bike I don't know.

I don't want to buy a set of $200 handlebars and they be just as bad.

So I turn to the most knowledgeable riders here. What can I do to combat this cramp? Thanks to all who help me with my dilemma Oh and btw I am looking at a 5000 mile road trip in 3 months so the sooner the better.

Thanks Again

Splinter

Splint, I've had the same problem on my last bike. I went with a lower bar, like the '93 fatboy. Like a beach bar. Changed the ride and reduced the neck stress. Also felt most of it was just penned up stress and I need to better relax on the ride.

Im scared of apes actually I see my arms going numb due to blood loss as it all drains back into my torso because my arms are above my head. I was thinking of going real wide kinda like the Indian Bars on my dads stock 99 Indian chief

My bike is anything but comfortable on long trips so I'll take my left hand off and stretch around a bit when I get the chance and sometimes if the conditions are right i'll just turn the cruise **** and take both hands off.

Just an idea that I got here. 4 1/2" pullback risers (if reaching for the bars is the cause) ,and a backrest, reduces those neck, back, and shoulder pains for several of us. I wouldn't try a long trip without a backrest.Because I feel 100 yrs. old.

For those long rides a removable back rest is a must for me or a seat that give lots of support aginst your lowest back area. Also if your wearing a helmet, especially a heavy one and its getting buffeted by the wind it will stress your neck in short order. If you are not using a windshield or its too low a handl bar that leans you more forward will allow gravity to help offset the windpushing your head back.
