Default changing pipes

Going to change the drag pipes that are on my bike to a set of V&H bigshots st. Would it be a good idea to give the nuts on the engine flanges a squirt of wd40 or something the night before or not. Also, don't know the complete history of this bike. Should it be taken to a dealer to find out exactly what the settings are before installing my pipes, fuelpak & big sucker ac or will the fuelpak overide any settings beside stock?

Default RE: changing pipes

A little penetrating oil won't hurt but make sure that you thoroughly clean your new pipes once installed and before firing up the bike. Any residue or even oil from your handling of the pipes can lead to permanent marks. The fuelpak, once you set it for your combination, will adjust the air/fuel mixture to new parameters. I don't see a need for you to take it to the dealer if you install the fuelpak and set it.

Go to V&H site and use drop down menu for settings on fuel pak with model and pipes. http://www.fuelpakfi.com/harley1.html
If you do a search here you can find step by step instructions as to how to set.

I would also get a new set of gaskets unless your new pipes come with them. Congrays. You'll like them.
