Default ADJUSTING REAR SOFTAIL SHOCKS

I just bought a 2008 softtail night train, can the rear shocks be adjusted so it sits lower when I am sitting on it? I know you have to buy a special spanner wrench for the shocks, and that they are under the bike, just need to find out if the sag can be adjusted with weight on the bike??? Thanks

Adjsting the shocks adjusts the shock dampening spring preload and will not make a significant difference in the hieght of the bike. You can purchase lowering kits that replace your stock shocks with a shorter version. The drawback of using the lowering kit is you loose overall suspension travel.

2008NT, Bite the bullet n get progesive 422's. You get spring preload n height adjustment all in n they give you the spanner to adjust the preload!

Before you get too far, you might think about buying a shop manual for your sled. Then you'll have a better understanding about what it'll take to install a lowering kit and adjusting the hight of your ride that way. I think that adjusting the preload is best suited for ride comfort not ride hight.

My Fatboy drags if I take a turn anywhere faster than moderate. Why would you want to lower one? Would make turns kinda hazardous seems to me.

Big difference between lowering a Fat Boy withwide foot boards, and lowering a Train...two completely different bikes...I've lowered mine 2" and never scraped even when riding 2 up...

The boards are a warning. Lot worse happens shortly after. I thought all the softails were on the same frame? Guess that's too simple.

I remember the salesman asking me to sit on the Fatboy and saying "Better check to see if it fits you". It did. Why would you buy a bike that doesn't fit you?
