RE: average rear brake pad life?
That is too subjective a question.[sm=confused06.gif]
Do you brake with 70% of your front, 30% rear?
Do you use the front at all?
Do you use the rear at all?
Do you live in downtown Chicago and have to stop for every frikken cabby, every 3.2847568 seconds?
Do you live in the country and the nearest stop sign or red light is 83 miles away?
I have mixed riding conditions in a fairly sparse area and would get 30,000 miles out of a set of pads.
Waaaaaay too many variables friend.

I am having the rear tire replaced and they recomended pads. Its got about 12,000 mile on it. I dont know if its theoriginal tire, pads etc. They told me its common practice to check and change them with the rear tire. I thought that was kind of short life. Not critical right now and about 2000 miles or so left on them. Its apart and why tear it down again later. Just looking for an average figure.
Thanks guys.

RE: average rear brake pad life?
antbody that can get 30 thou out of a set of brake pad must only get about a week outof the soles of there shoes I get 5/7 thou and use the front brake on every stop so I think you exagerate a little /whole bunch..other possiblity I guess would be you replace rotors every 5/6 thou.

RE: average rear brake pad life?
I would have to go with farns on this one. I can also add, what model bike, whose pads you are using, do you downshift or brake to a stop, do you live in Florida where the roads are straight and flat or say in Colorado, where the roads aren’t. On a FL “Bagger”, with Lyndall Racing Brakes, and asking 1,000’s of customers this same question, we average 18,000 on the rear and over 30,000 on the fronts. Again, farns on this one. I hope I have answered the origional question.

RE: average rear brake pad life?
There is back brakes?
Sorry couldn't resist but its very hard to answer this question because as stated every one has different riding habits ,some use little or no back brakes while others use alot. Also very dependant on if you mainly use the highway or the city. There is only one way you can know how long the brakes will last and that is to visually check them.
