Default 1996 Fatboy

New to forum, tried search, only found info on newer models. I have a 1996 Fatboy, which currently has a stock width rear tire. I like the look of the fatter rear tires. Can I replace the stock tire with a 180, without modifications? I have read it can be done on the newer models, but info on my 1996 is scarce. Any help on this is appreciated.[sm=loser.gif]

Hey, I have a 98 Fatboy that I bought a couple of months ago that has a 150 on the rear. It is very close to the swingarm. It is also very close to the fender when I am sitting on the bike. I am saying not over 1/8" clearance. Fits but is close. Mark

If I'm not mistaken your bike comes with an 120 stock, Andthe largestupgrade (HD wide tire kit) will allow you to go 150, nothing further.

So if these responses are accurate, which I have a feeling they are, what is the best option for getting a wider rear tire mounted? I would need a bolt on application, as I would not want to alter the original frame or swingarm. Any info is appreciated.

..without altering frame or at least theswingarm a 150 is about all you can do...and you havn't even considered the fender. Mine was a little close with the 150, couldn't see much wider under stock fender.
