Default Amsoil Stinks!!!

Actually just the severe gear tranny oil. I was changing fluids yesterday and some of the tranny oil missed the drain pan and got on the floor. Man that stuff has a strong odor to it. I swear all I could smell last night was that stuff.

I agree. I thought when I bought the amsoil since it was synthetic that it would smell like their other oil but it actually smells as bad as the gear oil I put in the Mack trucks at work.

Scent is often added to these oils to identify it as being gear oil. It seems to have astronger smell than most regular gear oils though.

It seems to work well, I just hope the smell wears off my hands soon.

If it has friction modifier in it that is the most god awful smelling stuff I've ever had to whiff.

I always wear non-latex gloves when dealing with fluids.

The smell is actually the sulpher used as an anyi-wear agent in the oil. The stinkier the better.
