Default Removal of Belt Guards????

What up you forum monkeys.. Last night I decided to remove both of the guards covering my belt drive, and rear sprocket. They don't look to serve a purpose except for keeping the passangers feet out ofthe rear end.

My question is, am I asking for trouble? Are they really nessesary? It looks SOOOOOO much better bare. I photo shopped the mount tabs off, but plan on removing them in the near future.

Belt guards are nice for when the belt decides to let go and it tries to whip you in the left arm, but other than that, no big deal. I mean, the worse that can happen is it cuts your arm off and makes you crash.

Took mine off too.I ride a half mile of dirt road to start and end each ride.Been that way for a couple years with no issues.Ground off the tabs so they aren't going back on.
