Default Suggestions??

Last Monday I bought a 2006 Heritage, 5500 mileswith the Stage II big bore kit and quadzilla fairing. I wasn't crazy about the color but thought I could live with it for the price I paid. After a little over a week I've decided I can't live with the color. I don't know what to do or if I'm being too critical about the color. I think there's too much purple on the front fairing and have a couple of options. I can paint the upper half of the fairing the orange shown on the tank and put the same pin stripe for $475, I could look for a set of take off's and have the fairing painted to match ($675 to change the color of the fairing plus the cost of the take off's) or have the hole paint set repainted for $2200. All the prices come from a painter that has painted a bike on TLC's Biker Build Off program. Or I could just leave the fairing off. I'm looking for thoughts and suggestions.

You might want to give it a little more time. I was very upset with my color at first - I ordered the bike based on the little square on the HD website. I felt it had too much purple in it when I wanted blue. After awhile I got used to it and now kinda even like it. You might not get to that stage but perhaps you could end up tolorating it. It is pretty much a one of a kind look which makes it stand out from the crowd and I think it's oka. I've seen worse as in a green/orange scheme that HD offered for a limited time that really sucked. Good luck!

Fairing doesnt look bad if thats the look your going for, but it needs to be matched to the tank. If your going to repaint that, you should look into some hard bags to match. It looks good with the fairing off too. The color of the bike isnt that bad, ive seen worse, but the big purple fairing either needs to be matched or tossed.

I thinkI would go back with the stock windshield... the color isn't that bad with the bat wing out of the way.

$475 seems high for half a fairing paint. take off's can be had for a good price, if you just look hard/long enough. paint the fairing to match that set. bought a set last summer. 2001 take off's. taken off new for a h.d. color shop set. shipped in factory boxes $500. (white pearl). does the fairing have tunes? that would be the determining factor for me. extra tins just "incase" is kinda nice too. just my .02 cents.

Thanks for the feedback, looks likeI definately need to do something with the fairing. Yes the fairing does have tunes and it's a quick disconnect, takes about 5 minutes to take it off or put it on. I really like the functionality of the fairing, but it's really not very high on the coolness factor. The original owner didn't have the original windsheild so hopefully I'll get a tax rebate check pretty soon so I can make some improvements.

i'd ditch the fairing unless you have to have it. go with the windshield.
keep the fairing for maybe big tours otherwise store it in the garage. my 0.02.
