I have an 06 Heritage also. I didn't even get black plastic caps for mine. I've seen chrome threadedcaps on the internet somewhere before. I'll see if I can find the link & post here. What I would like to find (or maybe fabricate if need be) is a different mounting bar that allows secure bags...with quick removal that doesn't leave anything sticking out. It'll be interesting to see what kind of replys you get on this topic...thanks for posting it man.

I believe that those four plastic caps are to be put on the studs once the bags are attached. That way the studs don't scratch any of the items that you may place in your bags. They don't stay on very well either. I replaced those with chrome acorn nut style bolts. You may be able to use them also when the bags are removed.

Great Idea man. I have to double check the thread size (I think they were 3/8-16). I just looked up chrome plated acorn nuts at http://www.mcmaster.com/they were something like $8 for 5 of them. I think I'm going tomove in that direction.
