Default brake light conversion kit

i installed a conversion kit this morning to add the turn signals onto the break light circuit ( this is a harley kit) after installing the kit i turned the ignition on ( and the kill switch on ) then waited about 30 seconds, then hit the starter, the engine turned over slightly, then i lost all power, lights and all, i repeated these steps several times with the same result, after about 7 tries, it started, i then shut it off and retried a few times, each time allowing the engine light to go off before trying , it has started every time since, is it possible the computer needed to " reset" itself to recognize the light kit, it is a 2001 heritage softail classic, w/fuel injection, any help is appreciated thanks.

Just a thought, could your battery have been low from sitting for the better part of the winter. Sounds like signs of a near dead battery to me.

I'd have to agree with serge. I usually go out and start my bike about once a week, just to let her know I haven't forgotten about her. I don't think it has anything to do with your CPU.

Well it's eithera dead battery as the others have suggested or you have disturbed the cable connections on the battery when you installed the module. If you have a softail then you likely have installed the module between the battery & the oil tank (normal location for the module). Be very carefull that you do not allow your positive lead or terminal to touch the oil tank. This will cause your stainless steel oil flex linse from the oil tank to the engine to burn & loose your oil.
