does anyone know if a bobtail fender off a softail custom would fit the rear end of a deuce??

Depends onthe year of your bike and the year of the fender. I doubt it will work with a Customs fender as they are all 2007 and up and are made to accomodate thewider 200mm tire size. If you use the earlier Standard or NT fender that covered the same size tire as your Deuce I "think" it might be doable.
But you may need to change thestruts and turn signals at the same time as they are unique to the Deuce. But I can't say for sure. Don't think anyone's tried it before.
About the only way to know for sure is to measure your fender against a Custom, Standard, or NT as they all share the same fender, struts and turn signals.

Now for the big question, why? Your Deuce looks really nice the way it is and getting a fender painted to matchyour bike is likely to be difficult or expensive.

thsnks for the reply citoriplus.....my amswer to your question why is ....well i guess i'm trying to achieve a 'beefier' looking rear end on my bike...i find the softail custom's rear-end very beefy, and i guess thinking that the fender was the issue...the deuce fender really covers up that rear tire....i like the fender on the deuce as well but,i wish i could have more 'width' to the rear of my bike...i could probabely go and change the swing arm and install a 200 or 240 kit but were talking major $$$$$ here, and thats not in my new future either. guess i was just looking for a quick fix to my idea....maybe it will get me knowhere....again thanks for the reply....regards...moe

If you pull a fender from a 99-05 model Softail, it "should" bolt on. Pre-2006 models ran a 150mm tire. Yours is a 160mm. The frames should be the same. However, as citroiplus mentioned, you'll need to swap strut covers as well. The smooth Deuce strut covers are crafted to fit the Deuce fender and won't match up to the curves of a stock bobtail.

I used to think the Deuce purists would be up in arms over a suggestion like this. But after seeing so many of them with Heartland and Phatail kits or similar installed, they lost purist credibility. Besides, its your bike and what you want is what will look the best, regardless of what anyone says.

Post pics if you get this done!
