Default Rear Struts Torx Size

What size is the torx bit for removing the rear struts? Any tips for taking them off? I'm just painting them but any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

T45. It's possible they might be T47 - I swapped my OEM bolts when I put the sissy bar on. But my guess is they are the same.

A T47 will be an RCH too tight and the T45 will fit.

On my Heritage it's a T45 and a T47. Good luck getting them out. If you do get them out, I'd suggest replacing with a hex screw or bolts.

I replaced mine with Chrome Allen Head bolts. Don't quite remember which size they were. I went to Sears and bought a few different sized Torx sockets.

I junked mine too, but instead of replacing them with Allen or Hex bolts I made some from stainless steel Acorn nuts and treaded rod.

Posted a little write up on it over here a while ago if anyone'sinterested.

BTW Mud started that thread on low bux mods over in the Dyna section and its a really great resource for "rolling your own mod's" as it were.

Yeah, I apologize. I went back and reread my post and that was a bit confusing. Of the 5 bolts, I think the outside 4 (2 closest to the turn signals and 2 closest to the seat) are T45 on mine and the center one is T47.

Swapping them for something different is a good idea. I'm most likely going to put hot toppers over them. Still pricey but less expensive than changing all the bolts to chrome.

I did that with the back 4 (2 on each side) and itswhat gave me the idea for replacing the rest with polished stainless steel acorn nuts.
