Default Decals on a gas tank

I want to strip, then repaint my gas tank and apply these decals I picked up on Ebay. They (arrow shapes) were on the late 30's models, although I think the decals may have been made in the 50's. Anyway, has anyone clear-coated over decals with polyurethane? I'd like to avoid dissolving them. Thanks.

I would guess that there would be no problem. Harley puts clearcoat over decals from the factory.

I just stripped my tank and fenders and what a pain in the ***. I have got everything primed and ready for paint. I am going to use house of color true blue pearl with some bar and shield logo stencils i had laser cut.
