Default tach install help

just finishing installation of HD #67946-96B Tach Kit on my 04 Heritage and I have a small problem. Instructions say" install the terminated end of the signal adapter into cavity #3 of the connector on the back of the speedometer". Having difficulty getting the signal adapter to go far enough into the connector to make contact, can only get it in about half way. Any tips??

Take it all apart. Check the way you have routed the wires. Did you use the bracket needed?

you may have to partly disassemble the speedo deutsch connector, or whatever type of connector it is (see service manual) to loosen the connector enough for the pin tangs to fully engage and lock into place. See this link: https://www.hdforums.com/fb.asp?m=3072501 for a pretty in depth description on how those connectors work courtesy of Mudpuddle.
