Default FXSTC - rain tires?

Anyone swap out their stock rubber for something that might do a little better in the rain? Not so bad for long trips, but short trips on colder tires when it's wet, and it feels a little squirrely.

Also, does anyone have instructions for how to do a rear shock sag test to tweak in the shocks? Not much on adjustment info. Since it rains a lot in South Florida, a little more response to the road is prolly a little better.

Had the same problem with the stock rubber on the 05 Buell. Switched from Dunlops to Pirellis on it and it was a like a who different bike after that. I am hoping there's some better rubber options for the FXSTC too. The rubber is great when it's dry.

Maybe Lydalls brake pads too? Another wet weather option that aint the best is the stock pads. Don't want the rainy season to totally kill riding this year.

tread is ok. But the rubber isn't right for the rain. Bike doesn't have any problems when it's dry, and I've rode other bikes with different skins and the traction is better. Just looking for advice from people who might run something different.

Metzeler ME880s are great in the rain, and handle better all around than the stock Dunlops. And you can't go wrong with Lyndall Z-Plus pads in any condition.

Cheers!

I run metzler ME 880's here in the UK, To set the shocks up you gotta turn em clockwise so as when you sit on the bike it drops a 1/2 inch to a 1".

I run 880's on my Sportster and like them. What are the listed number sizes for Metzler's for an '08 FXSTC?

210ZR50/17 for the rear, and I 'think' the front would be the 90/90-21. Your going to have to double check with the tire dealer on that number for the front as I'm not positive that's the exact replacement.

Thanks for the advice. I think I found part of the problem. Took a tape measure out to the bike, and it looks like the rear wheel alignment might be off. Can't say for certain, but it looks like almost 1/2 inch. Measured from the swingarm bolts to the center of the axle, and that's what it said. So I was like, no way, cause it's got 1200 miles on it, and was fine when I picked it up from the first service. So, I am going to get it in tomorrow and have them look it over. Want to document it if it's an issue.

Man, me and my rear tire issues could fill a book. Maybe I'm just too hard on the ol girl...
