Pics of '03 Fatboy wheel on '07 Nightrain
I wanted a front wheel that had the same look as the rear, with a big fat tire like the rear, and this is what I came up with! A custom machined Fatboy wheel with a 150/80/16 Metzler. It wound up costing about $250 including buying the wheel(used), the machine work, new bearingsand powdercoating. I have countless hours(and beers ) in getting this done. AfterA LOTof research, and A LOT of trial and error, I finally made it happen.
The first pic is in bar-hopping trim, and the second is in touring trim.
Tell me what you think about the wheel...

I like the way you hollowed out the rim. I've often wondered if it was possible on my '04 FB, without destroying the integrity of the rims, but I guess you answered my question. I like the blacked out look as well. Nice work! And any bag that holds that much beer MUST be hetrosexual.

Thanks for all the compliments guys.
Handling is definately different with the bars and wheel. I actuallylike itmuch better than stock. It turns MUCH easier. I dont have to press the bars hardly at all to take a curve, just a shift of body weight and it falls into the turn. Also the bigger tire makes imperfections in the road surface less noticeable. I mean with the 21" I felt everything, if I ran over a pebble I knew it, but the 16" soaks up that stuff. I guess because there is soooo much more sidewall.
I wondered how the look would go over. I'm still getting used to it, but I like the fact it sets my bike apart from the crowd. I kept the 21 though, just in case...
