I didn't get much response in General so I'm wondering what you softail guys think. That's the reason for the repost.

I'm looking to add one of these backrests to my 03 Fatboy.Do you think wider is better? I think wider looks more comfortable but it may also be more cumbersome. What do you think?

Can't answer as to how those 2 models would perform. The only drawbacks I see are that they are not adjustable, they are fixed and might not give you a comfortable fit. They do not fold down for hiking your leg over, dont laugh wait til you have jeans and chaps on and go to throw your leg over and wham, you look so graceful in front of all your friends [&:]. It appears that you have to have the passenger pillion mounted at all times. Positive note: cost is just a C-note. If you don't like there is always the Mustang, comfortable, adjustable forwards and backwards, can also get an offset seatpost for even more adjustment! And can go solo only with the backrest and with/without passenger pillion. It also folds down for when you don't want the chance of embarrassing yourself or it even removes easily for complete solo look without backrest! [sm=smiley20.gif] Just my nickels worth!!

IMHO it feels great and really supports the lower back and eases the grip on the bars during acceleration and long rides at highway + speeds especially in windy conditions. When the bride is on she is supported by the HD backrest and the mustang vintage seat pad that attaches to the solo seat with 2 bolts and the rear fender bolt. She loves the Mustang alot more than the stock set up.
