bag removal question
Question for all you seasoned pro's out there...
I just brought home my first HD a coupla weeks ago and was tinkering around in the barn with it the other day and developed my latest question: When I take my bags off of my Heritage I noticed that the bolts that hang the bags are rather unsightly when the bags are not on...does HD or someone else make a recommended set of slightly more decorative bolts for then the bags are off? Also, would said bolts still allow for the removable backrest to attach properly?

RE: bag removal question
if you have a detachable sissy bar then no problem. take off those unsightly bolts for the bags , and take one down to your local hardware for a set of stainless steel or similar bolts ... if I recall correctly they need to be an inch and 3/4 but you can easily work that one out . if you want to spend more than a few cents then HD will sell you some nice chrome bolts for lots of money..... I did the swap a few months ago when i took off the bags . cost me about $1 , and a little bit of time . very very easy job to do.

RE: get Easy Brackets
HDmakes a rear docking harware cover kit PN#48182-05. If you have the detachable backrest and/or luggage rack these covers slip over the exposed hardware andare secured by a strong magnetic pull. I use them when my backrest/luggage rack system is in the garage. I can only cover the farthest rear bolt now that I utilize Boss Bags and their quick detach bags.Boss also has 'bullet' covers for their hardware. You can see in my sig pic kinda what I'm talking about. Hope this helps!
