Alternatives to a Fork Bag
I am looking for an alternative for storing small tools, sunglasses, bandanas on my saddlebagless fatboy. I currently have a fork bag that sits on top of my headlight against the fork tin. I just put the chrome frontend kit on and am concerned about the bag starting to scratch the chrome fork tin. My stock one has several little marks on it from the bag, and the top of the headlight has some little blemishes from it as well.
Also thought about the onesided saddle bag I've seen in some pics, but not sure if I want something that big.
Open to any ideas.
thanks

I mounted a leather bag to the left side of the bike. Just below the seat and behind the oil tank. Mounted it to the fender strut. I have had tools in it..but use it mostly for my glasses and gloves. Have taken any updated pics of it...I'll get some on here.

I was concerned also about marks on my chrome frontend,,so i bought a sheet of peel-and-stick felt from a crafts store...cut size that I needed,,stuck it on back of bag,,,seems to be doing the job o'k,,,,just my 0.02 cent's worth......

RE: Alternatives to a Fork Bag
I just installed a La Rosa swingarm bag today for holding things like the military required orange vest. I had to use tie straps. There is no way to mount it with the supplied leather straps on my bike unless I removed the belt guards (then it would probably get caught in the belt)
Its not too big at all and I like the look. It barely sticks out farther than the folded-up passenger peg.

I carry my tools in my saddle bag, of wait wrong section in the forum.....
On my Softail I mounted my tool bag on the downtubes at the bottom just like what was posted above. It gets its fair share of road grime on it however the contents stay pretty dry.
I've seen tool bags mounted to the handlebars also. I'd imagine that beats up on the trees.

went for the swingarm bag perfect for a set of tools. Some say you don;t need tools on these new bikes. I learned thats wrong the hard way. Sorry about the crappy pics
