Default Shock removal Torque Adaptor

I'm getting ready to install the progressive lowering kit on my standard. According to the service manuel, I need a Snap-On SRES-24 Torque Adaptor for re-installing the shocks.

Is this adaptor necessary? Did anyone use another tool, or just tighten it down and not worry about the correct torque?

Default RE: Shock removal Torque Adaptor

I lowered my bike w/ Progressive 422 shocks...pulled the stockers...installed the 422's...adjusted for height...no torque wrench involved.
