Default Got my 80-spoke wheels, but I have questions...

Hey everyone,

I got a great deal ona setof HD 80-spoke wheels for my Heritage Classic. I have a question, though, about the large flange hubs HD uses on these. I was expecting a smaller flange on the right side, withoutthe usual 5 threaded holes. I checked my current 40 spoke wheel, and each of its flanges are the same size too. But, I can't see if it has the threaded holes. If they're supposed to be this way, I'll just keep 'em. Anyone make a chromehardware kit tocover the holes without using the old hubcap?

H-D makes a small flat hub cap that covers that side thats the side with out rotor correct if so they have a hubcap that fits it.
look in 08 catolage pg. 762 see if thats what you need

Hey mcpastor, what kind of bars do you have on that Heritage? And did you have to change cables?

Hey conroskie,

These are Wild 1's chubbies #wo518. I was able to keep the same cables, but all the wires had to be spliced andlengthened about 4" on each side.

OK, I'm giving an update for anyone that does a search on 80 spoke wheels or hubcap.

My front wheel is kit # 42958-04. I'm told the -04 is the year of production, and it will fit like the -08 parts. We'll see when I have 'em installed. (The interesting thing is the wheel actually has a 2006 date stamped inside, the same year my bike was made, so it should be OK.)

The instructions show it should have come with a chrome hub cap to place on the non-rotor side of the wheel. The hub cap is part #44614-03 in the instruction chart. You won't find that # in the parts catalog, but you can order it for $30.

I bought my wheelfrom a dealer on eBay "new, as is, clearance" for $400 instead of $700 MSRP so, I'll gladly fork over the $30 for the hubcap. Now I just need to see if it comes with chrome bolts.

By the way, I got an 80 spoke rear wheel for $395 instead of $700 MSRP too, once again a blow out part # 42962-04. They're out there!
