Default Has anyone done this? Any pics?

Just wanted to know if any fatboy owners out there have ever removed the fork cover from their bike. (I think that's what it's called) You know the cover right behind the headlight. I wonder what the fatboy would ook like with the triple trees expose and the upper forks exposed. I think it could look pretty beefy. Might be cool. Has anyone done this? Looking for pics before I go ahead and do it just to find out it looks dumb or something. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Been there, done that. A few of us have removed the tins and even the stock trees (they're ugly) and replaced them with aftermarket trees. It essentially gives you a wideglide frontend and a whole different look. I'd show you pics of mine, but the bike is being re-done. Ya gotta wait.

Originally (last year) I had trees shaped like boomerangs. I ran them for a year, but didn't like them. This year I bought a set off of Ebay made by Ultima and then had them powdercoated gloss black.

Here's a pic of them (in chrome)...

Cool, thanks. I kinda like the look of the front end without the cover. I may look into those trees. The stock trees are ugly? I haven't tried taking the cover off yet, so don't really know what they look like.

Yeah, they're ugly. The top tree is chrome and the bottom is usually black. Here's a pic of a stock set, butchromed on Ebay...

Might look ok with a set of chromed fork skins and trees. If you do it post up pics.

Here's a bad cell phone pic of the frontend (minus headlight)...

Those are the stock forks with the stock powdercoated black lowers and the powdercoated black Ultima Triple Trees.

If you've never done it before it can be intimidating, but in all honesty, it's very easy to pull the frontend apart. Just get yourself a manual. It walks you through step by step.

Ooh, one thing though, you will probably need to re-space your wheel though. The stock Fatboy trees are a bit narrower than the wideglide trees. That and you'll probably need a longer front axle.
