Default clutch options

I'm looking to purchase my 1st Harley. I was born missing fingerson my left hand. I have plenty of grip but lack the length to reach out and grasp/pull the clutch lever. Has anyone had any experience with a twist clutch? What about the Muller Power Clutch? Any other options out there would be very helpful.. Nothing will stop me from making this happen. I just need a little guidance. Thanks!

I don't have any experience with these, but Kuryakyn makes short-reach clutch/brake levers. One thing to look out for, though. They state they can be used on '96-'08 Softails, but the stock '07 and '08 levers have a tab on them to engage the neutral start switch when the clutch lever is in. It may be worth calling their tech support to inquire about this before buying.

You could also poke around dragspecialties.com, denniskirk.com, jpcycles.com, and the like; there may be other manufacturers that make a short pull lever.

I know you said you don't have an issue with grip, but it may be helpful to also add this:

I put on on my wifes bike and I can pull the clutch lever with one finger.

There are some foot clutch and hand shifter conversions available. I have no personal experience but there are a couple of forum members who have converted their controls. V Twin catalog shows "Jockey" 5 speed jockey shift kits and foot clutch conversions. You would have to check whether or not they would have the set ups to fit the HD year and model you want to buy. Good luck and find a way. Life is short and it is a real blessing to be able to spend some of your life on a motorcycle.

Check with Exile Cycles, the make a complete clutch kit that replaces the lever with a twist grip setup. Supposed to be very easy to use once you get the hang of it.

find a good independent/custom shop in your area and go ask those guys. they are usually machinists or closely associate with good machinists and combined with their mechanical knowledge, i am sure will come up with something perfectly suited for you.

i would think your dealer ought to be able to have the resources for this also.

I vote for a suicide clutch / hand shifter. I've seen these conversions done before for cosmetic reasons. You have a practical reason to convert your bike. Also--they look cool.

--I just read your post again. If this is your first bike, a suicide clutch is probably a bad idea..

Another option is a foot clutch and a pnuematic shifter. Push button shifting.

Great idea, but better an electric shifter like the one from Pringle.
No worries about air reserve or compressor problems.
