Default TO APE OR NOT? 07 FXST

i knowthistopic has been run into the ground, but i wanna go with 16" apes on my fxst. but is the 1 3/4bar the thickest i can get them?

1 1/4 is the norm for chubbys. There may be fatter, but with your front end, they'd prolly look weird. In fact, at 16 it would probably look better with regular one inch bars. But it's up to you. The issue is where the bars come down to meet the triple trees. Fat bars have a tendency to be wider at the bottom. You may want to look at some bikes with them. They also have a wider profile. 36.5 vs. 32 or so. At the top it makes a difference as well. Plus, you may ned to swap risers. Don't know what you have, but sometimes pullbacks and 16s don't really do it. For apes to really work, sometimes short risers are better.

Hi chepo, Pistor makes 40 mm (ca. 1,6") handlebars, but I fear there is no 16" apehanger.
